I am black
As sheep can get
Entangled in depth, obscured
Agreements disagreed
To disallow the shallowness of it all
What I once allowed as truth
Was just their way of peace
It wasn’t the way
Their way or the highway
I gladly ran
To not chase their expectations
My own dreams, truths opened
Uncovered by experience
They are mine
And no one else’s
They are mine
That no one can own
