The figure suddenly freezes,
In front of a crystal-clear mirror;
As clean as the surface of a tranquil pond:
With lotus pods covering the surface –
A beautiful reflection of a life left behind
In a silent corner of the village
The tremors in her wavy hair ceases
Within a blink of an eye
Unbeknownst to the big wide world
Sleeping like a still valley
Snoring away in peaceful slumber
Away from the maddening crowd
Full of void full hustle and bustle
Beating like a hidden heartbeat
A slipping nerve disappears
In her blue veiny hands
‘What do you see?’
The reflection asks back,
Unable to answer
Her lips quiver
Shaking like a flower fallen to the ground
Her big blue eyes open
Set against a fiery, blazing yellow hair
Representing a fire still within her
As a silent stream flowing.
