Living by Tokosi Mariam Ashake 
The inspiration behind my poem; "There are times when the feelings in my head are loud and wild, which makes it hard for me to concentrate, and other times when my feelings are quiet, like they don't exist, which makes me afraid I'll lose my feelings — but they always come back wilder than before. So I wrote the poem to assure myself that I'll always have my feelings, and to give myself a way to acknowledge my void states."

Tokosi Mariam is a poet from Lagos, Nigeria. She writes about what stays after everything else has gone — grief, longing, the quiet things people carry but don't say out loud. Her language is restrained and image-driven, built on the belief that some feelings are better shown than explained, and that quiet can hold more than declaration. Writing has always been her way of processing what she can't easily put into words elsewhere; on the page, she can say what she can't say aloud. This is among the first pieces she's sharing publicly under her own name. Alongside poetry, she is a content writer and a first-year Computer Science student, and continues to explore both writing and technology as parallel ways of understanding the world.
